Surprisingly, but not, I had a few extra minutes this morning. It was all divinely orchestrated. So I grabbed my phone and tripod and had a spontaneous photo shoot as I got ready for work.
Blogging and creating content I’m familiar with. But this is still a new project, a new phase, a new energy so, I didn’t know what this post would be about until I was reviewing the photos.
That’s when slow mornings came to mind.
A quick Google search tells us how a slow morning approach can be beneficial:
Reduced stress and anxiety, increased mindfulness and presence, improved mental and emotional well-being, and opportunity for self-care.
Every morning should be a slow morning. A time to ease into the day at a relaxed pace.
There are habits consistent in my morning routine that I love. Like, the cup of tea I prepare right out of the shower and sip while I get dressed, the simple skincare routine that brings me to the present moment with each step, and the five, ten, or fifteen minutes of meditation before fully climbing out of bed.
Then there are those habits I’d like to tweak. For one, snoozing. Yes, I am a snoozer! What I’ve learned about myself, however, is getting up early isn’t the issue. I wake up early on days off. The issue, I believe, is being able to wake up early for work without an alarm.
Another morning fun-sucker is encountering traffic on my way to work.
Both can be remedied by a shorter evening routine. That way I can go to bed earlier and wake up earlier.
I’ll get there.
I’m getting there.
What’s one thing you enjoy about your current morning routine? What’s one thing you’d like to improve?
